Email Marketing: Make Yourself Human

Writing by Brick Marketing on Tuesday, 29 of July , 2008 at 8:28 pm

You are already human, of course, but do your subscribers know that? Email marketing, particularly by larger companies, can become too formal quite easily. If you aren`t careful, you`ll end up distancing your readers.

Here are a few ways to be more human for your readers:

  • Sign your name. A name makes you human and sets you apart from those who are using nicknames or who don`t sign a name at all.
  • Use photos of yourself. This isn`t appropriate for every email, but even if your landing page has a shot of you on it, this will help your readers feel more like they are connecting to a real person.
  • Share experiences. This shouldn`t take up much, but a quick note on what you are up to can also cement this bond.

Presenting yourself as someone that your readers can connect with will allow you to reach them easier and they will be more willing to connect with you, as well.
