Email Marketing Offers More Than Obvious Benefits

Writing by Brick Marketing on Friday, 13 of June , 2008 at 5:46 pm Leave a comment

Most people who are just getting into email marketing tend to see only the obvious benefits . . . that you can create a relationship with your subscribers and possibly sell them some products or services along the way. But there is so much more to email marketing that you may be surprised to find it´s actually beneficial even if you aren´t selling anything.

New Skills: You´ll be amazed at how much you learn as you research content for your articles. Learning copywriting and research skills are just a few of the ways you´ll improve as you work on your email marketing.

Information: It´s normal to receive replies to your email marketing endeavors and this can be very informative as your subscribers share information with you. Make sure to read those emails and respond to them (see the next benefit).

Contacts: You never know who might be subscribing to your email marketing newsletters. It´s quite possible to make some amazing contacts that could really help you later on in your business when you are ready to do joint venture projects, etc.

Email marketing isn´t just about selling. It´s often a learning process that can take you a long ways toward your goals. If you are new to email marketing, keep in mind that sales aren´t the only measure of success.

Email Marketing Alternatives to Email Newsletters

Writing by Brick Marketing on Tuesday, 10 of June , 2008 at 8:39 pm Leave a comment

Not every email marketer does his or her best marketing through a steady newsletter. In fact, there are so many ways to use email marketing to your advantage that it would be a shame if you only ever used the omnipresent email newsletter.

Email marketing is an art that requires many approaches. Here are just a few ideas of different ways to use your opt-in list to boost your brand reputation.

  • Email classes. Send out lessons every day or every week and always include a link in your sig line.
  • Coupons. You don´t have to send out an email newsletter, just giving people coupons or discounts can keep you in touch with them.
  • Site updates. Many people don´t necessarily want an email newsletter every week, but they do want to know if you update your website, so make this an option.
  • RSS feed. If you have a blog, you might be surprised at how many people would prefer to receive your latest updates via email. Offer this option and watch your list grow without any effort.

As you can see, there are plenty of other ways to do your email marketing, even if email newsletters just don´t interest you. Email marketing is THE way to go these days, so don´t ignore the opportunity just because you don´t want to write weekly articles.

Email Marketing: Building Your Reputation

Writing by Brick Marketing on Monday, 9 of June , 2008 at 10:04 pm Leave a comment

Email marketing can make or break your reputation, particularly if you are using your own name. By sending out subpar emails, you could brand yourself as someone who doesn´t care about anything except earning cash. This is a very bad position to be in, since you´ll find that you won´t make too many sales if people think you are just in it for the money.

Building your reputation as a trustworthy business person is a matter of good email marketing. Here are a few ways to ensure that your reputation is a positive one.

  • Be faithful. Send your email newsletters out regularly and make sure you follow through on any promises made in your email. This will help build trust.
  • Follow up. When someone emails you, make sure that you email them back or at least have an autoresponder message to reply to them.
  • Deliver. Make sure that what you offer people on your landing page is what you actually deliver to them in your email marketing. If you don´t, you will find that your reputation rapidly disintegrates.

Your online reputation is very important if you are trying to earn money. Take good care of your reputation in email marketing and you´ll be able to earn far more.

Email Marketing Tips: Using Email Blasts to Your Advantage

Writing by Brick Marketing on Thursday, 5 of June , 2008 at 5:11 pm Leave a comment

Maximizing the effect of an email blast to a group of people, whether subscribers or a rented list, is just good email marketing sense. There is not a lot of reason to send out an email that won´t get anyone´s attention, so you need to make it eyecatching and appealing to your audience. Here are a few tips on just how to do that.

  • Use a name. Names of people in the From line can boost open rates by as much as 3%, whereas business names in the same place appear to have little or no effect at all.
  • Personalize it. Even though this is a form letter, people like to see their names on the email and it´s a handy email marketing technique that can help you earn people´s trust.
  • Watch the links. More than 10 links and you´ll have diminished click through rates. 3-5 is the ideal number of links to include in your email marketing newsletters.

Email marketing is something that takes practice and a lot of tweaking. If your first email blast doesn´t work as well as you had expected, try to determine why it failed adn then adjust your techniques and have another go at it. Not every technique works for everyone, so you´ll need to test anything you come across on this blog or anywhere else on the internet.

Avoid These Email Marketing Mistakes

Writing by Brick Marketing on Wednesday, 4 of June , 2008 at 6:56 pm Leave a comment

Normally we talk about what you should be doing with your email marketing, but it´s really just as important to look at what mistakes you should be avoiding. Many people have to make their own mistakes to learn what is the best way to continue, but that doesn´t mean you can´t learn from what others have discovered doesn´t work. Making new mistakes is always better than repeating what everyone else has done.

Email marketing mistakes to avoid include the following:

  • Sending test emails to your entire list. Rather than let everyone know that you´re testing, send out a test email to just a few of your subscribers.
  • Not testing your email marketing. This could result in poor code and ugly emails that don´t give the impression you are trying to get across. Make sure you know just how your email newsletters look.
  • Not spellchecking. This is a huge no-no. Spelling mistakes in email marketing instantly brand you as an amateur.
  • Using the wrong link. This seems to be a very common error that is being made these days and it´s quite inacceptable. As an email marketer, you need to ensure that you are sending the correct links out every time.

Learn from these common email marketing mistakes and don´t make them yourself. You´ll find that your marketing campaigns are far more effective if you can just avoid errors that are all too often made by others.

Email Marketing: A Great Option During Economic Depression

Writing by Brick Marketing on Monday, 2 of June , 2008 at 11:36 am Leave a comment

Email marketing is always a good method of communicating with potential and existing customers, but it is also a very good method of marketing when the economy is dipping, as it is now. The reasons for this are varied, but here are a few of the more important ones.

Price. You can´t beat the price of email marketing. It´s nearly free to send and free to receive. As opposed to direct mail, email marketing is definitely more wallet-friendly.

Reach. Despite being low cost, email marketing works for nearly every demographic and can be used to market to people all over the world.

Ease of use. If you can talk, you can write an email newsletter. That´s what makes it so simple to use. Of course, it takes some talent and know-how to create a great selling email newsletter, but that can be taught.

Even in these days of a rapidly falling economy, email marketing remains a constantly used medium. Using email marketing has always been a good idea and looks like it will be for some time to come yet.

Email Marketing: Why It Works

Writing by Brick Marketing on Thursday, 29 of May , 2008 at 11:39 am Leave a comment

Email marketing is generally accepted as a good way to promote your business and earn money online, but do you really know what it is that makes email marketing work? When you know why you´re using email as the preferred medium of communication, it will be far easier to use it effectively.

Connecting. There is something about receiving regular emails from someone that helps you connect with them. This doesn´t mean ads, but real information sprinkled with a little bit of personality. This will capture your readers´ interest and keep them reading.

Trust. After an extended period of communication, it´s natural for a bond of trust to begin to form. This can help you when recommending products . . . people will trust that you are giving them an honest opinion. Be very careful not to betray this trust!

Interaction. Email is easy to send and if you invite your subscribers to contact you, they will. This is a great way to help establish a more personal bond with your readers and make them feel that you really do care. It also affirms that you are a real person, not just an autoresponder message.

Email marketing is still growing, but there are quite a few online businesses that still don´t employ it. You´d be amazed at how much your business can improve simply by adding a mailing list. Read over the reasons why email marketing works again and then put this great method to work for you.

Email Marketing: Staying On Top of the Industry

Writing by Brick Marketing on Sunday, 25 of May , 2008 at 4:18 pm Leave a comment

Email marketing is like any other industry. It has its ups and downs and new techniques are constantly coming out. To really be successful, you need to be constantly on top of these new methods of reaching your subscribers and to be aware of the cutting edge techniques available.

Experiment. First of all, new modes of communication via email marketing are often discovered or developed by email marketers themselves. After all, if you come up with it, you´ll be the first to use it!

Subscribe to email marketing newsletters. While there is definitely such thing as information overload, you should make sure that you are reading the experts at the very least. They will often break their newest tips and tricks to subscribers before they go mainstream.

Read email marketing blogs. You don´t want to be reading all day, so pick 3-5 top email marketing blogs and stay on top of those for the latest news and techniques. This is your best option if you don´t want your email inbox to fill up too fast.

Email marketing requires education just like any other industry. Reading and learning from others is definitely a good idea, but so is creating your own variety and techniques in your email marketing campaigns.

Email Marketing: Mistakes Aren´t Marketing Techniques

Writing by Brick Marketing on Saturday, 24 of May , 2008 at 11:45 am Leave a comment

There is an increasing number of “apology” emails in my inbox these days, as I suspect there are in everyone´s. Mistakes have turned into the latest email marketing craze for some bizarre reason.

“So sorry! Wrong link in the last email!”
“Please forgive me, I gave you the wrong link.”
“Whoops! Not again!”

These are just a few of the subject lines you´re likely to see coming in from those calling themselves email marketing gurus. Is it a technique that works? Perhaps with some. But for most, I suspect the first thing that comes to mind is something like “amateur”. Especially when the same email marketer uses the same mistake over and over.

Mistakes do happen, even in email marketing. If they do, I would suggest fixing them and apologizing, but don´t make it a huge thing. And certainly don´t use it as a marketing technique, making errors on purpose! This is just silly and it shows that you aren´t being careful of your work. Any email marketing beginner can double check his email newsletter before it goes out and there is no excuse for missing out links every other email.

Take the time to ensure that your email marketing is based on quality and good information and you´ll find that it lasts a lot longer.

Email Marketing: The Affordable Marketing Solution

Writing by Brick Marketing on Monday, 19 of May , 2008 at 2:52 am Leave a comment

Not every business has a huge marketing budget and with email marketing, they don´t have to. Email is practically free and even the amount you´ll spend on an email service like GetResponse or Aweber or Constant Contact isn´t much in the grand scheme of things.

For small businesses, email marketing offers an affordable alternative to direct mail, which is often cost prohibitive and requires far more time and energy. Email marketing is also green, for those who are interested in reducing their carbon footprint, since no paper or chemicals are involved in the process.

Email marketing is an excellent way t to stay in touch with your clients and to ensure that you get the best possible response to your marketing campaign. Email is often more effective than direct mail and since it´s so much cheaper, you can send it more often, creating a real bond with your clients or potential customers.

Email marketing also makes it quite easy to maintain several marketing campaigns at the same time, something that is very important if you have websites and need to keep several mailing lists going at once. It´s a great alternative whether you´re on a budget or not.

Email Marketing: Split Your List for Better Results

Writing by Brick Marketing on Saturday, 17 of May , 2008 at 1:57 pm Leave a comment

Email marketing is something that requires a lot of work. Just setting up an autoresponder isn´t good enough if you really want to make sales. You´ll need to do a lot more, in fact. One easy way to gain more sales is to simply split your opt in list.

When someone buys your product or affiliate product, they should immediately be moved to a new list . . . the buyers list. This email marketing tactic is one that the best marketers use and it can be quite effective. Basically, you want all the people who have already bought from you to be on this list. They´ve already proven that they trust you and are willing to hand over their hard earned cash for your products, so they are prime candidates to become repeat buyers.

This buyers list needs special treatment. You don´t want to just throw more ads at them in hopes that they´ll buy. Now that they have one product, give tips and advice on how they can use it and maximize the potential of the product that they already have. This will keep them reading.

Talking about your other products and how they will help enhance the existing one will help boost sales. If you don´t already have a second product, start working on one or find an affiliate product that compliments the one that you have. If you aren´t already splitting your list, you´re missing out on a huge email marketing opportunity.

Email Marketing: Using Interactive Media Links

Writing by Brick Marketing on Saturday, 10 of May , 2008 at 1:05 pm Leave a comment

Email marketing is constantly evolving and changing, usually for the better. This is something that allows us to try new techniques and also to connect better with readers who get tired of the same thing all the time.

Interactive media links are the perfect way to add a little pizazz to your emails. If your readers are bored of reading plain text, why not give them some video? Or audio? It´s relatively simple to record your own video or podcast and your readers will greatly appreciate the change in pace.

Just because your email marketing contains interactive media doesn´t mean you don´t need to write. It´s usually fine to write an article and include a link to the relevant video or audio clip. This will add some extra value to your emails, whereas an email that only offers links won´t be regarded as high value. Using text in combination with your links will offer your readers more information to digest and will help boost your reputation as an expert in your field.

Quick Email Marketing Techniques to Employ Today

Writing by Brick Marketing on Tuesday, 6 of May , 2008 at 10:07 am Leave a comment

While there aren´t a lot of ways to instantly boost your earnings, you can certainly bump them up with a minimal amount of work. The less effort you need to put into these techniques, the better! So, here are a few email marketing techniques that you can begin implementing today.

  • Personalizing. Using a simple code to add people´s name into your email marketing newsletters will go a long way toward creating a bond.
  • Improve your signature. How you sign off at the end of the email is a huge part of email marketing. If someone has read to the end of your email newsletter, give them a link to follow.
  • Include tips. Make a point of adding one tip min. to each email newsletter and you´ll find that your subscribers open more of your emails. The tips need to be something they can actually use, though.
  • Review products you like. There´s nothing worse than someone who copies the sales letter off the website just to get the affiliate commission. Take the time to actually review the product, point out the good and the bad and what you personally liked about it.
  • Give something away. Yes, these people are already subscribers, but why not thank them for being loyal and staying on your list?

These are email marketing techniques that really wouldn´t be difficult to implement and can help you raise your earnings in the long run.

Email Marketing: Ignoring the Gurus

Writing by Brick Marketing on Monday, 28 of April , 2008 at 10:11 am Leave a comment

Take a look at your inbox. How many emails do you get from email marketing gurus? Do you even read them anymore? It seems like everyone and his dog is writing about email marketing and turning themselves into these great gurus, but the majority of them are just regurgitating what is already out there.

It´s time to start ignoring them. While not all email marketing “gurus” are bad, why not weed through your inbox and start deleting everyone who has sent you an email with the same subject line in the past week. Unsubscribe from those lists. They´re using online marketing sales letters as if they had no imagination!

To avoid their fate, your email marketing campaign should be original and unique. Is everyone else in your industry writing great long emails? Then go short. Or vice versa. When you want to promote something that offers a standard email marketing sales letter . . . rewrite it. Use a completely different subject line. Review it instead of spitting out the same email marketing crud that everyone else is.

Being different isn´t bad. Ignoring the gurus who are really just sheep isn´t wrong. Take a stand, be different and you´ll find that your readers respect your email marketing tactics far more.
